Watch for Termites

Along with warm weather comes the annual threat of increased termite activity, and this summer is no different.
Several Orchid Hill residents have reported substantial termite activity in colonies near their homes. As homes are treated by pest control companies, these colonies can quickly change locations in search of vulnerable homes.
The warm weather, combined with recent rains, can combine to make termites increasingly problematic. Homeowners should take precautions to defend their homes against these and other wood eating pests.
Foremost among the termite fighting strategies is to contact a qualified pest control company that specializes in treating termite problems. Many homeowners may choose vigilence as their main defense. However, termites can cause thousands of dollars in structural damage before being detected.
Most exterminators offer termite fightine plans for as little as $100 per year, a nominal cost considering the results of an infestation.
Additionally, most home insurance policies will not cover damage caused by termites.
